Using the Surveya Mobile Application over 1 300 household interviews were completed by six fieldworkers in just 28 days. Two questionnaires including a socio-economic survey and census were completed concurrently with the residents of Bugala Isand. The interviews were conducted offline, and data gathered included quantitative and qualitative data, GPS coordinates, photographs and signatures of respondents.
Sure, there are many tools for capturing information remotely, but Surveya is the best automated survey tool for research projects involving any combinations of 1) multiple questionnaires, 2) a large survey sample, and 3) capturing multimedia data offline.
Surveya makes waves in Swaziland
Our mobile application was used to complete 174 household interviews in the remote Shiselweni Region of Swaziland. Households impacted by the proposed construction of Ethemba Dam were purposively selected and represented a 100% sample.
Interviews were completed on iPads using an automated questionnaire administered by a team of 7 local fieldworkers trained in qualitative and quantitative research methods.
The survey aimed to collect data at a household level on population demographics, land, housing, health, education, water and sanitation, religion and cultural practices, natural resource use, livelihood strategies, employment, skills, community dynamics, and perceptions about the project.
Using the Surveya mobile application socio-economic data, including GPS coordinates for households, were accurately captured off-line and securely stored on our servers!
Anglo American gives Sci-Survey a massive thumbs up
In 2013 Anglo American’s largest resettlement project was approved, and following a competitive tender process, Surveya was appointed by Kumba Iron Ore to complete a census for Dingleton Town in just 20 days.
With seven iPads and 14 trained fieldworkers, Surveya Global did not complete the census in 20 days, but completed a total of 906 interviews in a record 17 days!
Completing the survey within budget and on time was made possible by Surveya offering our clients the following benefits:
- The mobile data collection process was seamless. Not a single technical error was encountered in the field;
- Due to good questionnaire design and automation the fieldworkers were able to capture a minimum of 12 responses a day;
- Data was immediately captured into an Excel database, which eliminated date capturing errors and allowed for real-time quality control; and
- A lot of time was saved by fieldworkers using the Surveya App to take GPS coordinates, as well as photographs and signatures of respondents.
By far, this has been one of our greatest surveys.
